Founded in 1842, Mount St Mary’s College is an idyllic place for
children to grow into the fullness of the Jesuit vision, becoming good
‘Men and Women for Others’, from the moment they join through to
the end of Sixth Form. “The Mount” – as it is affectionately known – is a
special community in which to learn, live and work.
There are currently 370 pupils in the senior school (11–18), with a
boarding community of 70. A further 200 are educated at the prep
school, Barlborough Hall, situated 2 miles away.
The school is located in the village of Spinkhill, on the edge of the
Peak District. Despite its rural location, the close proximity to the M1 (5
minutes to Junction 30) means that urban centres in all directions are
within easy reach: this includes Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster,
Derby and Nottingham, all of which are less than an hour’s drive.
