Job Description
St Paul's School, Brazil seeks a Director of Sport. The Director of Sport will have responsibility for all aspects of the provision for PE and Sport across the Senior and Junior schools. Working closely with the Head and Assistant Head (Enrichment), s/he will establish and oversee a coherent strategy for the future of sport within and beyond the curriculum.
The appointed person will manage the considerable PE teaching and sports coaching workforce, identifying and delivering training as required as well as appraising the performance of all staff in sport. S/he will encourage high levels of pupil participation, and ensure that high quality opportunities are widely available.

At Paul’s School is a 3–18 school of about 1000 pupils, situated in a leafy suburb of Sao Paulo. It is a bi-lingual school, offering the British National Curriculum to IGCSE alongside the Brazilian Core Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate programme. Exam results are consistently good, and pupils move on to a wide range of universities, in North America, UK and Europe. The heads are in membership of the leading UK associations, including IAPS and HMC.
The school was the first Latin American school to be recognised by the UK government as a
British Overseas School, when it was inspected in 2012. It was listed by ‘The Guardian’ as one of the best UK-curriculum international schools in the world, and judged excellent in all areas in its 2019 BSO Inspection.
The School was founded in 1926 by the substantial British community , which had settled in
Brazil to construct railways. It gradually expanded and extended the age range of pupils. St
Paul’s was founded by the Sao Paulo Railway Company to “provide a sound education for the
sons and daughters of British parents”. Its UK influence remains strong today.
Facilities for learning are excellent, and ever-improving. Well-equipped, bright modern
classrooms are supplemented by lecture and assembly halls, a Sixth Form Centre and first class provision for music, drama and sports. The most recent addition is The Queen Elizabeth II Academic Centre, opened in 2016, which houses a learning resources centre, art studios, music school and 10 science laboratories.
