I believe in agency, empowerment, independence, inquiry, ownership and self-efficacy for students – and by collaborating and facilitating it is my job to meet their individual needs with my approaches to learning and teaching.
For instance, in the global pandemic and present situation worldwide my specialist subject teaching is critically important to community fitness, health, mental, physical and social well-being. The child’s environment and health and safety are also vital.
Accounting for diversity, equal opportunities, inclusion and language also makes it possible – and lessons have to be engaging, fun and innovative!
One of my greatest strengths is community, inter-personal networking and positive relationships with parents, students and teachers. It is the collaboration between “community (externally and internally) of learners” and members of a society that makes it succeed as a “team” together in the world.
AD/HoD/PE and SPORT primary and secondary specialist subject teacher.
I am an experienced PE teacher (Head of Rugby & Tennis) with a good all round knowledge and practical teaching experience of a wide range of sports such Rugby 1stXV, Cricket 13A, Tennis U12-U18, Hockey U15-18, Football 15A, Swimming and Athletics. My school also uses FMS. Outside of school I coach Middlesex U15 & U16 and previously coached with Hampstead RFC. Academic teaching is a passion of mine and I have taught Edexcel GCSE and A Level PE as well as Edexcel EPQ at UCS. I mark papers for AQA GCE PE and moderate the NEA A Level PE for OCR. These additional job responsibilities require me to work under pressure and I my level 3 apprenticeship in leadership and management has supported me.Through my experiences of teaching examination PE, I have successfully supported a broad range of students with diverse needs through challenging learning journeys. Within my department I am in charge of coordinating the school sports day and the Summer term 11+ and 16+ induction days. I also lead the year 12 Sports Science Enrichment programme. More recently I devised and launched a brand new whole school internal games programme ‘The UCS Games’ which targeted inclusion at a whole school level. The UCS Games was designed to promote the schools four values of relationships, resourcefulness, resilience and responsibility. I have been a form tutor in all key stages and I find the role to be one of the most fulfilling parts of the job. I have written successful Oxbridge and US references and I am currently the UCS Higher Education advisor for sports courses, careers and US/UK sport scholarships. I promote sportsmanship, teamwork and positive wellbeing and encourage my students to be self-aware individuals and foster the same values. I am seeking opportunities to coach rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey or football. Additionally, academic PE and athletic development coaching.
Head of Academic PE, Teacher of PE, Head of Rugby, Head of Boys' Games.
With over 13 years’ experience providing engaging & structured physical education in high-performing preparatory schools, I am certain to bring seasoned expertise in student development to any school.
I am a stickler for being on time, disciplined and have the ability to improvise, adapt and overcome a situation when it is needed. These values were instilled during my 12 years in the British Army.
I did not come into teaching the conventional way of university, so I have learnt from day one from the coaches and PE teachers that I have worked with or come across. Also, I would take note of what the heads of the department go through within their own daily routines. With that, I have made myself into an inspiring, confident, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, PE teacher and more recently a leader, manager and role model that encourages exercise and a healthy approach to daily life.
My time as Head of PE at The Hampshire School Chelsea, sees me set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated & challenged to reach their full potential, with a commitment to my pupils and the quality of their experiences by catering for the range of needs of all the students & I provide a stimulating, happy, safe & supportive learning environment.
As a Teacher of PE in both Hampshire and Hill House School, I planned & taught well-structured, differentiated lessons for EYFS to Year 8 that aligned to the agreed curriculum & cultivated intellectual curiosity in my students. I was responsible for the educational development of my classes, delivering an age-appropriate curriculum. I made sure to foster positive self-esteem in my pupils & hold high expectations of their work & behaviour.
All of this has allowed me to develop a mastery of PE as a subject along with general teaching pedagogy. Of course, ensuring the wellbeing of students & safeguarding them is my ultimate concern.
I am extremely hard working and committed to delivering high quality teaching and learning to improve and raise standards wherever I am. I believe in motivating children to be their best selves, instilling an appreciation of learning across the curriculum.
After a professional sporting career lasting over 18 years, I successfully transitioned into coaching both locally and professionally . Over the last 10 years of coaching, I have positively impacted young students that are currently playing sports at semi-professional, professional and international levels. Coaching has provided me with the opportunity to work with young people of mixed genders and all age groups, from various social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ranging from summer camps and school tours/ ECA's to working in Elite Professional Football Academies.
Having recently completed my Master’s degree in performance coaching, alongside teachers and coaches of Tennis, Netball, Rugby and Cycling from around the world, it further substantiated my belief that there are numerous similarities and transferable skills between high performance coaching and teaching.
As such, 18 months ago, I successfully applied for a sports coaching role with Kellett British International School, Hong Kong. The sports coach role quickly developed into a PE Coaching role, split between the Co-educational; (Prep) Pok Fu Lam campus and the larger (All Through) Kowloon Bay campus, that develops students aged 4 to 18. Whereby my positive character, interpersonal skills, organisation and collaboration into the departments, garnered trust for me to both assist and lead multi-sports PE, Games, Extra- Curricular activities and teams, on and off both campuses.
I believe that my passion to become a qualified teacher of Physical Education, in addition to my experience, skills and background, make me an excellent potential candidate for Coaching/Graduate Assistant sporting roles.
I am conscientious in my duties and work well within a team environment, however I am also experienced and confident enough to use initiative and take a proactive approach to supporting the needs of staff and pupils, qualities that I feel, should, align with the vision and ethos of any potential employers.
It would be a pleasure to further share with you and elaborate on my previous experiences. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at +852 93303617 or email at email@example.com .
