Scarborough College seeks a Director of Sport. The Director of Sport provides strategic leadership for sport and the Games programme at Scarborough College. This role combines vision, organisation and hands-on involvement to ensure that sport is a vibrant and central part of College life.
The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Head (Academic) and senior colleagues, the Director of Sport oversees the planning and delivery of the school’s sporting programme, including fixtures, training schedules and major events for both day pupils and boarders. The role ensures that sporting provision runs smoothly across the year, with appropriate staffing, facilities, transport and resources in place for all fixtures.
This role would suit an experienced and ambitious sports leader with strong organisational skills, a passion for coaching and the ability to inspire participation, teamwork and sporting excellence across the school community. A key focus of the position is creating a sporting culture that balances high participation with the pursuit of excellence.

Scarborough College is a coeducational independent boarding and day school for pupils aged from 3 to 18 situated in the beautiful seaside town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. There are three sections to the College journey: the Pre-school, the Prep and the Senior School.
During the last 5 years, pupil numbers have grown from 365 to 565 pupils and in 2023 it became a HMC school. The majority of the day pupils are drawn from across North Yorkshire and the thriving boarding community includes over 25 separate nationalities.
British boarding has also grown significantly in recent years and the College now has 4 boarding houses. In 2024 Scarborough College reached the final to be Boarding School of the Year for the Independent Parent Magazine for the fourth year in a row. In 2023 the College reached the final to be the TES Boarding School of the Year for the second year in a row, having previously been in the final to be Co-Educational School of the Year.
The campus is situated only 15 minutes from the beach in the South Cliff area and the College enjoys excellent facilities. In recent years, the College has seen some significant investments across the whole of the school that have benefited each child, whether they are a Little Owl in their nursery or an Upper Sixth student completing the IBDP.
