Job Description

Barnard Castle School seek a Head of Rugby. The Head of Rugby will provide inspirational leadership and strategic oversight of all Rugby activity at Barnard Castle School.  This will 
extend from the Prep School through to the 1st XV, ensuring that the game is a vehicle for character development, community belonging, and ambition.  Working with the Director of Sport and the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a strong culture of commitment and aspiration, reflecting sound values and high standards.  The aim is to produce confident, resilient and humble young adults through Rugby.


The appointed person will devise and oversee a comprehensive programme of high quality coaching, which will impact on all players.  This will include supporting and developing a large and diverse team of coaches, and working with players and teams across both the prep and senior school. The Head of Rugby will also be the principal coach of the 1st XV and 1st VII, building a year-round high performance infrastructure which will include player-profiling, periodisation, conditioning, analysis.  Technical and tactical coaching will build on this foundation.
