Personal Summary

Teacher of Physical Education, August 2022

I would like to introduce myself as an innovative teacher who prides himself on high standards. Pupils come to my lessons knowing they will experience challenge, enjoyment and learn in an environment where making mistakes is understood to be part of a process. I educate with a whole-child and concept-based approach, which allows me to promote cognitive, social and physical development. I have ten years of professional experience, including UK and international schools, and I currently teach at Brighton College Bangkok. This summer, I am returning to England to move closer to my family and I am looking for my next teaching position.

‘Sport for all’ is integral to my teaching and I support everyone in working towards their full potential. In order to achieve this, I value inclusive competition that is pitched at the correct level of challenge. I also cherish the opportunities that sport can deliver in promoting positive values, such as resilience, responsibility and integrity.

Within Games, I have been Head of Football, where I was an ISFA regional coach, and have coached rugby and cricket to a high level – including at the IAPS Rugby National Finals. I have also led on athletics, where I redesigned a programme to have an ‘athletics for all’ ethos, which had a hugely positive impact on participation and overall team achievement. I have coordinated competitive swimming teams and coached at the IAPS Swimming Championships. I am a qualified football and rugby referee and cricket umpire. I took these qualifications as I value the importance of running school fixtures to a high standard.

My current role as a House Parent has allowed me to lead on the day-to-day wellbeing of our pupils and promote positivity within our school. I currently manage a team of tutors and support tutors to promote high standards of behaviour and ensure a strong system of support is in place. This role requires me to have effective communication and strong organisational skills, especially when planning whole school events.

At Brighton College Bangkok, I am the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Coordinator, an extra-curricular activity that I have introduced here. I love outdoor education and would be delighted to develop it within my next position.

Six years ago, I left King’s House School and moved into international teaching to experience and embrace new cultures. I have gained a huge amount from my time overseas as a global citizen and I would love to share my knowledge and experiences with the pupils at my next school. My wife and I now have a young son and we are very excited to bring him to England, to be closer to family, and to contribute to an outstanding school.

I hope I have given you an insight into my experience and the role I can play at your school. I would love to speak in more detail should you be interested in an application from me.
